The 12th Junior Leadership Contest

The 12th Junior Leadership Contest, the novel and unique interschool competition of Orchids, once again attracted participants from leading schools of Hyderabad on 7.11.14.Each school was represented by six students of VIII and IX classes, ready to compete with others and take the lead. They were all leaders in their own right, leading their school from the front with their commitment, confidence and competence.

The assertive and motivational School Song by the School choir befitted the significant Opening ceremony which was graced by Principal of Orchids, Mr. C.Srikanth and teachers of the contesting schools. 

The Chief Guest of the Valedictory Function,  motivated the students to dream big and aspire and conveyed her good wishes to all the participants and winners of the contest. She asserted that Honesty, Confidence, Compassion and decision making skills shape them into future leaders. The lessons learnt are more valuable than the awards. Every participant is a winner as the Chief Guest asserted.
  
 ‘If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are a leader.’

The Junior Leadership Contest definitely offers its participants a platform of opportunities to explore, experience and excel in skills of leadership. The prize winning teams were Orchids- The International School, Delhi Public School, Secunderabad, and Jubilee Hills Public School, Hyderabad. Rayyan Asif Khan of Orchids, P.V. Nishit of DPS, Secunderabad, Sai Ram G. of Orchids bagged the first, second and the third prizes respectively.

Orchids extends its best wishes to the Individual and Team prize winners.












Children's Day Celebrations

Childhood is a memorable phase in everyone’s life. A day for children coincides with the birthday of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, the first P.M. of India.

Children’s Day celebrated on Nov 14 was a spectacular show. The morning assembly was a special one conducted with all its regular features by teachers. Later the one- hour programme presented by  teachers for entertaining children incorporated songs, skits, PowerPoint presentation, jokes and Magic Show. Students were immensely pleased and applauded each and every programme.

Star of the Week of 3/11/14 is Ayesha


Swachh Bharat National level Campaign on 18.10.14

Orchids-The International School organized an event in connection with the Swachh Bharat National level Campaign on 18.10.14. Principal of Orchids Mr. C. Srikanth welcomed the Chief Guest, Mr. V. Jagadeshwar Goud, Corporator 113 Division, Mr. Tagore, President, Kavuri Hills Society and Mr. Ishwar, Zonal Head, Orchids-The International School. Classes of VI, VII and VIII presented a cultural programme including a Telugu folk dance, songs in Hindi and Telugu and a skit in English. An interesting PowerPoint presentation was shown to create an awareness to work for clean surroundings which makes a clean nation possible.
Mr. Ishwar and Mr. V. Jagadeshwar Goud  emphasized that if every citizen of India feels the responsibility and contributes his share for a clean nation, the objective of achieving Swachh Bharat is sure to materialize. Memento presentation by the Zonal Head to the Chief Guest followed the pledge taken by everyone to make the Swachh Bharat mission a success.

The area in front of the school was swept, weeds were taken out near the plants in the school compound and there was also a plantation programme in this regard.

                                                       RESCHEDULED SCHOOL TIMINGS
Dear parent,
1.       Keeping in view the Summative Assessment – I for Grade I to V which will be held with effect from 13/10/14 (Monday), the school timings would be as under for the entire school. (Pre- Primary to Class- X) from 13/10/14 to 16/10/14.
                    a) Reporting time: 8:30am
                    b) Dispersal time: 01:40pm
2.       As per the instructions of management students who have cleared all their school fee dues would be permitted to appear in the exam. ( Kindly ignore, if fees is already paid).
3.       The school will revert back to normal timings from 17/10/14 (Friday).
4.       Keeping in view the Summative Assessment – I for grades I to V, Academic Fair scheduled on 18/10/14 is postponed. The new date will be informed shortly.

Hindi Diwas Celebrations

Hindi is the official language in India. 40% of the population speak the language. In an endeavour to create awareness and showcase the  talent of the students of Grades I – X who have opted for Hindi as their II Language, Orchids  - The International School celebrated ‘Hindi Diwas’ on 12-9-14.
The programme began with a welcome dance by the students of the senior classes.  It was followed by a rendition of a song in which the importance of Hindi as a language was expressed.  The numbers 1-10 were creatively displayed by the junior students through a dance. There was a unique PowerPoint presentation highlighting the significance and relevance of the language.  The event was concluded with a hilarious skit that was presented by the students of Grades IX and X. The audience enjoyed the programme thoroughly.  Our Principal, Mr.C. Srikanth, appreciated the efforts of the teachers – Mrs Swati Saxena, Mrs Ratna Devi and Mr Shyam Kumar in making the programme successful.

Chess Tournament

Six students from Grades V – VIII of Orchids participated in The Children Chess Tournament on 7/9/14 at Shivani Function Hall, Gachibowli. The tournament was organised by Impact Chess Academy. The school is proud to state that Pranav Katpatal of Grade  V won the Third prize in the Under – 9 category. 


Gymnastic Competition

Five Students were selected by the schools’ gymnastic coach Mr. Bramha to participate in the Greater Telangana Artistic Gymnastic Competition on 07/09/14. The competition was held in Green Gables School, Madhapur. The students were selected to participate the floor Exercise Category.

All of them performed well. They were happy as they got an opportunity to exhibit their skills.

Star of the Week Nishanth


Hindi Hasya Kavi Sammelan

Humour is a very essential part of our life – it can be in any language. This fact became evident when Orchids organized its first ever ‘Hindi hasya kavi sammelan’ on 7/9/14. Thirteen students from Classes VI – X who have opted for Hindi as their II language, were selected to present a variety of anecdotes  that kept the other students of Classes III – X in splits.   All the speakers showed a lot of confidence and enthusiasm and were eloquent in their expression. However, since it was an Inter-House competition,   Farhanalluh Farooqui and Shuchita Gupta of Class X won the first prize. The second prize was bagged by Kethan Jainof Class VII. Khadija Khan won the third prize.

Teachers' Day Celebrations

Teachers’ Day is a day when all the students get an opportunity to express their love and appreciation for their teachers. The students at Orchids – The International School are no different! They planned meticulously and celebrated Teachers’ Day with a lot of enthusiasm.
The students of Class VI presented a skit depicting Dr.Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and his wish to celebrate his birthday as Teachers’ Day in an endeavour to represent and honour the teaching community.
The students of Classes IX and X put up a short but interesting cultural programme.Most of the senior students represented teachers. The teachers who were called onto the stage to walk the ramp were felicitated and given gifts by the Principal. 

A game of Musical Chairs was also organised for the teachers before the cutting of the cake which marked the end of celebrations by the students. The teachers, later, went out for a lavish lunch hosted by the school management.

Dear Parent,
1.      On the occasion of Teachers’ Day on 05/09/14(Friday), the school will get over at 11:30am for classes I to X. However, there is no change in the arrival time. [ only breakfast will be served for the school food students]
2.      Parents using own transport are requested to adjust accordingly.
3.      For students of pre primary, 05/09/14(Friday) and 06/09/14(Saturday) are holidays. However, for  Grades I to X,  06/09/14 and 13/9/14 are normal working days.
4.      Friday’s time-table will be followed on 06/09/14 and 13/09/14  for Grades I to X.
5.      8/9/14 is a holiday for the school on account of ‘Ganesh Immersion’.
